Frequently asked
● Vacuum breakers normally require bounce recording; SF₆ types do not.
However, clip or hot-stick clamp vibration can create “false bounce.”
Fix: wrap the jaw with insulating tape to increase contact area; when using a hot-stick clamp pull downward slightly to keep the teeth from chattering.
● Long or numerous false bounces shift the time values and thus affect max. pole dispersion and speed.
If the breaker has been idle for ≥ six months, exercise it several times before taking the final record.
If pole scatter is still out of spec after repeated tests, call the manufacturer’s service team for adjustment.
